Frequently Asked HVAC Questions

Do You Have HVAC Questions? We Have Answers!

How often should I have my heating and cooling units serviced?

We provide an annual maintenance membership service. This includes a technician who arrives at your home once a year to inspect and maintain the integrity of your system. The more frequently you have your system checked, the more likely it is that you will be able to catch hazards and problems before they become more costly or dangerous. You can conduct your own regular inspections as well, and we provide you with a list of warning signs to be on the lookout for, as you keep an eye on your heating and cooling units. Knowing what to look for can help you feel empowered and safe as you operate your new climate control system.

Do you think our allergies are affected by our indoor air quality?

Absolutely!

Our air purifying units are designed to filter allergens out of the air. As a result of these efficient units, customers have reported a dramatic decrease in allergies, and sometimes even in asthmatic attacks. Since allergies and asthma are affected by what is in your air and lurking in your furniture, having a high-quality air purifier can definitely affect attacks and breakouts related to allergies.

Why doesn't my air conditioning unit maintain the correct temperature?

Sometimes the problem is with the unit itself, and sometimes the problem is with the thermostat. Old units are unable to keep up with the demand of your home, and therefore inadequately distribute air to the home. Sometimes this is also due to blocks or breaks in your ductwork. In other situations, the irregular heating or cooling is simply due to a thermostat that needs updating, rather than a complete unit installation. Our technicians can honestly assess your unit and advise you on the best way to proceed.

How Often Should I Change My AC and Heating Filters?

This depends directly on how often you use your AC and heating systems, which can be a direct result of the type of climate you live in. A good place to start is to check your filter once a month and hold it up to the light to check for any debris. If there is excess dirt on the filter, it is time to replace the filter. You can always compare your old filter to a new one to see the difference more clearly. Typically you may find you replace your filters a couple times a year, but it is best to keep a running record for one year to see how your specific system operates. At the very least, replace your filters at the beginning of the cold season and before it starts to get into higher temperatures. It is also a good idea to have your heating and AC systems checked for routine maintenance a few times a year as well.

How Often Should I Replace My Air Conditioning Unit or Heater?

Oftentimes people will let their AC or heater run until it dies, but what many people don’t realize is that they could be saving money by replacing their HVAC unit. How does that work? Well if your unit is 12 years or older, it may be time to begin thinking about replacing your unit. There are much more efficient systems on the market that can ultimately save you up to 50% on your energy costs! Not only that, but you can also save on the cost of repairs because as units get older, they tend to need more and more upkeep. Additionally, getting a brand new air conditioner or heater unit could help to bring improved comfort to your home.
